Well, as in a lot of two story homes, the space under most stairwells is closed up, too much trouble to finish out this part of the area! However, like the loft project, I didn't like to see space wasted and unused. So I made a hole in the dining room wall and started storing seasonal stuff under the stairs. I was forsighted enough to lay tile in this area when I was tiling the downstairs (already had the hole in the wall by then). Well after 4 years of hiding the hole, I finally ran out of excuses. The pictures show the finished project, that include a place for the paper shredder, fax machine, wine bottles (full), and a couple of drawers for storage. I also included a small charging station for our cell phones and PDA. Its a good use of space and I am please with the results.

The whole unit is on 5 roller wheels so it can be pulled out for additional storage that is not available from the outside.
